COFFEE TALES
Loren G. Evangelista
Town and Country September 2009
IF YOU'RE A PERSON who drinks coffee everydy, how that bean gets to your cup probably won't cross your mind. But for someone like coffee entrepreneur Roberto Francisco, who published A COFFEE JOURNAL... From North to South, Farm to Cup, the fascination for the coffee-making proces and the individuals that take part in it is a lifelong passion. He came up with the idea for the book through his own San Francisco Coffee & Roastery (which has been providing coffee beans, machines and barista training for some time now) and after many travels to such places as the Mountain Province, Cavite and Lipa, where he documented every stage of the process with his own camera. Interesting anecdotes from farmers, harvesters, roasters, traders, retailers and coffee drinkers complement his photos, creating a unique tribute to all who take part in the system. Francisco's personal journey with coffee started fifteen years ago in his mother's garage.
